Carlos left ICI and church behind—the pull of gang life was overwhelming and he fell into the vicious cycle of retaliation retaliation. After his best friend was killed, he went to avenge him, was caught, and went to prison for murder. There Carlos had time to reflect and found his way back to God and a real relationship with Jesus. ICI leaders kept in touch and he credits their influence on him as well as the foundation learned at ICI as instrumental in his growth while in prison.
